Hahnemühle Fine Art Papers and Canvas
Paper weight is only one specification. Fibre, base colour, texture and inkjet coating influence how detail, colour and black are seen. The descriptions below refer to manufacturer characteristics; the right material for an image is still a creative choice. Current studio availability should be confirmed when ordering.

Compare the named materials
Ways to begin comparing, not rules about what an image may be printed on. A test under the intended display light is more informative than a screen thumbnail.

White and texture
Where each surface sits
Two variables do most of the visual work: how white the unprinted sheet is, and how much of its surface you can see. Start from the quadrant that matches your image, then compare neighbours.

Choose a surface with the image in mind
Hahnemühle fine art paper
Photo Rag® 308
A 100% cotton fine art paper with a white base, smooth surface texture and matt inkjet coating. Its soft art-paper feel makes it a versatile starting point when you want the image, rather than a strong surface pattern, to lead.
- Weight308 gsm
- Fibre100% cotton
- WhiteWhite
- SurfaceSmooth matt
Consider it for
Detailed photography, portraits, restrained colour and black-and-white prints.
Test first
Compare it directly with Bright White if highlight brightness is central to the work.
Hahnemühle fine art paper
Photo Rag® Bright White 310
A bright-white base, matt coating and lightly defined felt structure. The whiter paper can make unprinted highlights and high-key areas appear more luminous beside a warmer sheet.
On the price list: 20 × 30 to 40 × 60 cm, from 250,000 VND. Prices
- Weight310 gsm
- Fibre100% cotton
- WhiteBright white
- SurfaceMatt, light felt
Consider it for
Architectural photography, graphic colour relationships and imagery that depends on clean contrast.
Test first
Brightness does not make it automatically more accurate: if a photograph was edited with a warm paper in mind, the white point can change its mood.
Hahnemühle natural-fibre paper
Hemp
A natural-fibre alternative while keeping a relatively restrained surface. White, without optical brighteners according to Hahnemühle, and lightly textured.
- Weight290 gsm
- Fibre60% hemp · 40% cotton
- WhiteWhite, no OBA
- SurfaceLightly textured matt
Consider it for
Work needing natural-fibre character without heavy texture.
Test first
Compare the same file on Hemp and Bamboo to judge the effect of paper tone.
Hahnemühle natural-fibre paper
Bamboo
Its natural-white base is visibly warmer than a bright-white sheet, with a soft, lightly textured matt feel.
- Weight290 gsm
- Fibre90% bamboo · 10% cotton
- WhiteNatural warm white
- SurfaceSoft, lightly textured
Consider it for
Muted palettes, warm scenes, quiet monochrome and work that benefits from a gentler paper white.
Test first
The fibres describe the sheet; they do not alone determine the look of the print. Check cool, blue-dominant images.
Hahnemühle fine art paper
William Turner® 310
A mould-made paper with a pronounced felt texture and matt inkjet coating. Its structure adds visual depth and physical character.
On the price list: 20 × 30 to 40 × 60 cm, from 280,000 VND. Prices
- Weight310 gsm
- Fibre100% cotton
- WhiteWhite
- SurfacePronounced mould-made texture
Consider it for
Drawing, illustration, watercolour-like imagery and some landscapes.
Test first
The same texture can be conspicuous in delicate photographic detail or flat colour, especially when examined close up.
Hahnemühle canvas
Photo Canvas 320
A bright-white, finely woven poly-cotton canvas with a matt coating intended for photographic use.
30 × 45 to 100 × 150 cm, from 580,000 VND. Canvas prices
- Weight320 gsm
- FibrePoly-cotton
- WhiteBright white
- SurfaceFine weave, matt
Consider it for
Photographic canvas with a relatively fine surface.
Test first
Neither canvas reproduces tiny detail the way a smooth paper does.
Hahnemühle canvas
Canvas Artist 340
A natural-white poly-cotton canvas with a coarser weave and a stronger artistic texture.
30 × 45 to 100 × 150 cm, from 680,000 VND. Canvas prices
- Weight340 gsm
- FibrePoly-cotton
- WhiteNatural white
- SurfaceCoarse weave, matt
Consider it for
Artwork where visible canvas texture is part of the effect.
Test first
Check fine detail and small elements, which the weave softens.

Bring a question, not only a paper name
Tell us whether the critical quality is subtle shadow detail, vivid colour, a warm white, visible texture or a particular feeling in the room. We can narrow the comparison, then discuss size, border and framing.
